So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates
and gave them the king’s letters.
The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.
Nehemiah 2:9
Three months before all of this, the only thing Nehemiah knew was that his heart was broken for the condition of the Jewish remnant and the city of Jerusalem. He had no idea what to do, but he prayed. Over the months, God worked in his heart. He took a risk. He asked King Artaxerxes to let him go to Jerusalem – and then asked for the resources he need to make a safe trip, and to rebuild the walls. And look what God did!
Over 25 years ago Kathy and I felt led to start a church from scratch. We moved from California to Arizona to do it. We did not know a soul. But we knew in our hearts God was calling us to do this.
The following quote was given to me during that time. I put it on our refrigerator. We trusted God and watched him work. What we did was nothing compared to what Nehemiah did, but this quote applied to us – and to him:
Until I am committed, there is a hesitancy,
a chance to draw back.
But the moment I definitely commit myself,
then God moves also,
and a whole stream of events erupt.
All manner of unforeseen
incidents, meetings, persons and material assistance
which I never could have dreamed
would come my way and begin to flow toward me –
the moment I make a commitment.
What about you? Was there something in your past you made a commitment to, and then God worked on your behalf?
The leadership at Crossroads believes God has called us to this REACHING BEYOND Campaign – to build this addition to our facility, so that more lives will be transformed through a loving relationship with Jesus. We are committed, and we are trusting him to bring “all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings, persons and material assistance which we never could have dreamed of” our way. Would you pray to that end with us?
