When Sanballat the Horonite
and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this,
they were very much disturbed
that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.
Nehemiah 2:10
You know the following law of physics:
“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
That is not only true in the physical world – it is also true in the spiritual realm. Any time we stick our neck out for God and his kingdom, the devil will go to work to try to stop what we believe God is calling us to do.
Be prepared. This venture will not go without some measure of difficulty and resistance. That does not mean it is not worth doing, or that it is not what God is calling us to do.
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
But more importantly, Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”
Acts 5:38-39 tells us,
“For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men;
you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
Nehemiah had opponents fighting against what God put on his heart to do. But they could not stop the project, because it was from God.
We truly believe God’s Spirit has led us to our REACHING BEYOND Campaign. If it is not of God it will fail. But if it is from him, God will make it happen.
What plans do you have in your life? Are they your own, or are they of God? Have you committed your plans to him? Have you asked him what he is calling you to do?
No matter what we do, someone will oppose us. If it is men, with God’s help we can overcome that opposition. But if God opposes us then, we will fail.
Lord Jesus, help us do what you are leading us to do, and not simply things we want to do!
