I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and truly bleed orange! Hook ‘Em Horns! However, I decided to get my degrees from other colleges. Shhh, don’t tell my family. I received a B.S. from Texas State University in Interdisciplinary Studies and an M.S. in Speech and Hearing from Washington University in St. Louis. College was one of the best times of my life and where I was when I met and fell in love with Jesus! I became involved in a local church for the first time and loved the opportunity to learn and grow in various ministries on campus such as FCA and my sorority Sigma Phi Lambda – Sisters for the Lord.
I worked as a Deaf Education teacher and Parent Advisor for children with hearing loss for 10 years in Texas. I loved getting to work closely with the parents of these little ones, helping them navigate the uncharted waters of all that a hearing loss diagnosis encompasses. I loved this work!
I experienced one of the heaviest bouts of grief of my life when I lost my brother in a car accident when he was just 23. I sought out grief support from the church I was attending in Dallas and allowed myself to be broken and slowly healed from this loss. I still miss him so much! I’m so grateful that I knew Jesus at this time! It was shortly after this that I felt God tugging at my heart to serve here and was blessed with the opportunity to lead this grief recovery group for a few years. Those were hard and healing years!
In 2011 I met my husband, Bren, and we married in 2014. Almost immediately we moved from Texas to Louisiana where his next project was located. We were there just long enough to have our first daughter, Sydney. Four weeks later we were moving again, this time to Colorado. Two years after that we welcomed our second daughter Quinn. Getting to be wife and mom to this family of mine is one of my greatest treasures! We love playing board games, watching movies together, building legos, singing and dancing to Taylor Swift and watching Sydney and Quinn find their passions!
Once we were settled in Colorado we started attending church here at Crossroads and have loved the family feel since we walked through the doors. I quickly became involved in the MOPS group here. Being in a new place where I didn’t know a soul, a new wife and first time mom I desperately needed to find my tribe! Through MOPS I found the most amazing group of women to do life with and my heart was pulled more to make sure that any mom needing support and fellowship would feel welcome and loved on here.
I have loved my time as a stay at home mom and cherish the opportunity that I have to continue to be so present for our girls. I also really enjoy challenging myself and growing in new areas. So now that both of our girls are in school full time I can explore a few things for me! I am so excited to dip my toe back into the working world by joining the Children’s Ministry Staff here at Crossroads! In my free time you will find me with all the mamas in our Moms Between ministry and then working on launching my own children’s pajama line, SnugPie.
